Hammarby speedster Charlie Davies could be setting up shop in France by this time next week if ongoing deep negotiations pan out, Soccer365 has learned.
According to his agent, the transfer race for the U.S. forward has come down to two competitors, with a Ligue 1 club holding the inside track.
"We are in serious discussions with a French team, and they are in serious discussions with Hammarby over a fee," Lyle Yorks told Soccer365.
"There is also one Bundesliga club in the discussion, but I think he will go to France. We are hoping to have this done in the next five days."
The leader in the bidding is one of the three teams previously mentioned as suitors - USMNT teammate Carlos Bocanegra's Rennes, Saint-Etienne and Sochaux - while German buzz has Hamburg involved.
Croatian power Hajduk Split and an Eredivisie side have also showed interest in Davies, but look a bit late and light to the party.
The former Boston College ace, who is currently on CONCACAF Gold Cup duty in Seattle, has scored 25 times in 69 Hammarby outings across all competitions since arriving in 2007.
