Gaven Holds No N.Y. Grudge
Columbus attacker Eddie Gaven says their MLS Cup match-up against former club New York holds no special significance to him - other than them being the team standing between the Crew and their first league crown.
The New Jersey native played his first three seasons in the Big Apple, but holds no grudge heading into Sunday's showdown.
"It's all good," Gaven told the Star-Ledger. "I had some great times there."
"That's where everything came about in MLS for me."
"It was fun to be able to play in my home state in front of family and friends," he says. "I don't hold any harsh or bitter feelings toward them at all."
As for his current club, Gaven believes that the last few years of struggle have finally paid off for the organization.
"After the Crew didn't make the playoffs the last few years, this feels really good," he declared. "I think everybody knew we had a lot of talent - it was just a matter of it coming together."
