West Ham United handyman Jonathan Spector reports that he ahead of schedule on his hip recovery is on the verge of rejoining his teammates in practice.
The U.S. international suffered a torn labrum while training on international duty and underwent surgery in June, but his wait appears to be nearly over.
"I'm looking to return to West Ham sometime next week," Spector told Soccer365. "I have been working hard to strengthen my hip so that I can confidently return to training."
"I'm happy to say that I am further along in my rehab than my surgeon and physical therapist had initially set."
Much has changed at Upton Park since the Illinois native last appeared, with the Hammers now dealing with an ownership worry and the overwhelming likelihood of a massive fine resulting from the Carlos Tévez registration infraction - not to mention the recent unveiling of new coach Gianfranco Zola.
However, despite the woes surrounding the club, they stand fifth in the Premiership through seven games. Regardless of the situation he will return to, Spector is chomping at the bit to play a part in West Ham's season.
"I have been looking forward to getting back to playing since the day after the surgery," he admitted.
"There have been a number of changes at West Ham while I have been away, including a change in management and playing staff, and I'm looking forward to getting back and making an impact."
The Irons get back in the game Saturday with a visit to early-season darlings Hull City.
