U.S. WNT Complete 2013 Unbeaten Run

Sydney Leroux scored 2 goals and Abby Wambach hit the game winner as the U.S. women’s national team beat Brazil 4-1 to end 2013 with an unbeaten record of 13-0-3.  The unbeaten record marked only the 2nd time in team history that the team went unbeaten in a calendar year with 10 or more matches.

The Red, White and Blue took charge of the fast-paced and competitive match early scoring the opening goals in the 15th and 17th minutes.  Brazil grabbed one back in the 25th minute but Leroux completed her brace to give the home side a 2-goal cushion in the 36th minute.

Hope Solo was solid in goal making several big saves to keep the margin at 2.  Erika Tymark completed the scoring with her first international goal in the 76th minute.

Carli Lloyd picked up a 2nd yellow card in second half injury time forcing the U.S. to close out the match with 10 players.

The win extends the U.S.’ home unbeaten streak to 77 matches and overall unbeaten streak to 39.
