The United States men’s national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann will get a final look at his team ahead of naming his World Cup roster when the Stars and Stripes travel to face Ukraine on March 5. The game is the only date on the international calendar before the final rosters must be submitted for Brazil 2014.
“Ukraine is a very talented team and was very unfortunate not to qualify for the World Cup,” Klinsmann said. “We want to continue to make statements that we can get results in games like these.”
“Since this is our only chance to bring in all the players before the pre-World Cup training camp, this is a huge opportunity for them to make their case to be included on the 23-man roster for Brazil.”
The Ukraine is ranked 18 in the world. They are the highest ranked team to miss out on Brazil after letting a 2-0 first leg advantage slip away in the 2nd leg. The final dagger, an own goal in the 72nd minute, ultimately sealed their fate.
