Mexico scored their biggest victory over the United States on this day in soccer history in 1999 with their 1-0 win in the Confederations Cup in Mexico. Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored a golden goal for El Tri Colores.
Mexico took the win for granted at the time as they still held the upper hand in the border rivalry.
Kasey Keller kept the Red, White and Blue in the match with a stellar game. "Their goalie played very well. It was a tough game," Mexican coach Manuel Lapuente said of the performance.
