Russia is returning to a red jersey for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. adidas released the first look at the new jersey on Wednesday and it is living up to the hype as one of the 3-stripes best designs for Brazil.
The jersey is dark red with darker, almost maroon colored, sleeves. The gold badge and gold adidas logo and 3 stripes on the sleeves really pop and complement the dark red color. At the base of the 3 stripes on the sleeve are the white, blue and red of the Russian flag.
The front of the jersey also features a diagonal brick-work looking pattern starting at the waist on the right side and building up to the team badge. An interesting element that could have gone wrong but came together nicely.
On the back of the jersey, the dark red color is used on the shoulders with Russia written in the native language and divided from the rest of the jersey by a gold stripe across the shoulder.
Russia is playing in only their third World Cup as an independent nation but will be looking to make a strong impression with the eastern European country set to host the 2018 World Cup. They are confident having won a tough Group F in UEFA qualifying that included Portugal.
