Mexico news wrap: Juarez returns to Mexico, Mancilla joins Atlas

Efrain Juarez has joined Club América from Scottish champions Celtic in the biggest move so far in the Mexican draft.

The move calls time on Juarez´s unsuccessful stint in Europe, where the right back/defensive midfielder played only 13 games for Celtic and 15 on loan at Real Zaragoza, before being unceremoniously ditched from the Spanish side to make way for other foreign players earlier this year.

“We have big news,” wrote Club América on its official Twitter. “Mexico national team player Efrain Juarez will be wearing our colors next season.”

Juarez last featured for Zaragoza in January and hasn´t played for Celtic since returning from Spain that same month.

The former Pumas player joins other new recruits for las Aguilas Adrian Aldrete and Rubens Sambueza.

In other news, 31-year-old Chilean striker Hector Mancilla has left Tigres and joined Guadalajara-based team Atlas.

Mancilla was a crucial figure in Tigres winning the Apertura 2011 champions, scoring nine goals.

The Chilean joins fellow new signings Matías Vuoso, Luis Alberto Bolaños, Sergio Amaury Ponce, Luis Sandoval and Christian Sánchez at Atlas.

Atlas have made a point of strengthening their frontline, with the team managing only seven goals in 17 games last season.
