Women's Professional Soccer

After three seasons, Women's Professional Soccer called off their fourth season on January 30, 2012.  The league plans to re-launch but rumors do not support these claims.

    The WPS Board of Governors agreed today to suspend all League operations permanently and dissolve the League. “We sincerely regret having to take this course of action,” said T. Fitz Johnson, Atlanta Beat Owner and Chairman of the Board.

  • Sky Blue Name Roster for Japan Tour

    Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) announced today the player pool for an upcoming Japanese tour with Plenus Nadeshiko League club INAC Kobe Leonessa. The two teams will be playing a pair of exhibition matches in Kagoshima and Okinawa this March, with Sky Blue FC spending a total of 10 days in Japan.

    Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) announced today that its Board of Governors has voted to suspend the 2012 season to permit the League to focus on the resolution of certain pending legal issues and the challenges that now face the League as a result of its ongoing dispute with a former owner.

    One day after announcing that U.S. National Team defender Becky Sauerbrunn has joined its roster, Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) has confirmed the addition of defender/forward Nikki Marshall. The former first round selection of the Washington Freedom is the all-time leading goal scorer at the University of Colorado, where she registered a total of 42 tallies during her college career.
