Recap: Pappa stuns US with late equalizer in 1-1 draw

Marco Pappa stole what looked like a sure three points for the US with a brilliantly taken free kick in the 82nd minute, giving Guatemala a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night at Estadio Mateo Flores.

The Americans had broken through in a tight match in the 40th minute through Clint Dempsey, who took a ball from Fabian Johnson near the top of the box, knifed laterally through two defenders and put an easy shot to the right of Guatemala ‘keeper Ricardo Jérez.
