Italy’s Serie A is considered to be one of the top football leagues in the world. Serie A was formed in 1929/30 and has produced the highest number of Champions League finalists over their 80+ year history and have the highest number of Ballon d'Or winners.

Serie A Fun Facts:

• Serie A was formed in 1929.
• Scudetto (small shield) is the term used for the league champion as they wear a small coat of arms with the Italian tricolour on their strip in the following season. This honor pre-dates the league and was first done after the 1924/25 campaign.
• "Stella d’Oro al Merito Sportivo" – (Golden Star for Sports Excellence) was introduced in 1958. The tradition allows a team that has won 10 titles to include a gold star on their jersey. The teams with gold stars are Juventus with 2 stars and Internationale and AC Milan with 1 star each.
