How much more exposure does David Beckham need? Can you ever get enough of David Beckham (maybe that is more aimed at the ladies)? Whatever the case may be, this guy just doesn’t stop popping up in our lives. His newest ad, to be featured during the Super Bowl is available for a sneak peak.
After watching it several times…oops! Just kidding! Take a look, I’ve got to go get some therapy because I have Beckham on the Brain.
Had a chance to head 40 minutes south of Phoenix on Tuesday to watch the Seattle Sounders during their morning session. The one thing about Sigi, he always has a lot of guys in camp and they are all competing for spots.
It was an intense session with plenty of competition going on, certainly nobody strolling about. Check out my clip of a four-goal game they were playing here
It was especially encouraging to see Steve Zakuani out there. Jeff Parke and Brad Evans were back from USMNT and mixing it up. Look for the Sounders to compete for the Western Crown this season.
Le Toux to Vancouver…he joins Nygen, DeMerit and Hassli and suddenly the team looks like it might creep up in the west this season. There will be a TON of pressure on the Frenchman to produce many goals…like over 20 if the Whitecaps are to be competitive.
I can’t believe that Clint Dempsey did NOT move during the window. But I also understand if Fulham wants to keep him because he is so valuable to the Cottagers. But there will be a time and an offer that makes too much sense and Dempsey will move on. I know that he could start on any of the top five teams in the EPL right now!
In the Soccer America daily emails I get, they are saying that Landon Donovan will come home soon to the Galaxy and will NOT stay at Everton. Don’t mean to insult anyone, but I knew that all along. It’s a nice little set up that benefits both parties (Landon & Everton) for two months. That’s all it is and that’s all it is meant to be. Landon is a homeboy and I guess there’s nothing wrong with that. Just don’t ever tell me that he’s proven himself over the long haul in Europe, because he hasn’t.
The WPS is suspending operations for the 2012 season and the only thing I will say is that over my 35 year soccer lifetime in the USA I have never seen a club or league come back after suspending operations …please correct me if I am wrong. I wrote about it recently, the solution is for all MLS, NASL and USL clubs to have a women’s team and they play BEFORE the men’s games with two 30 minute halves. This is not meant to insult the women by any means, it is meant to be a solution. The two game set up will enable fans to get more bang for their buck and to enjoy the ever-expanding group of soccer specific stadiums to be enjoyed that much longer on game day. This is the ONLY way it will work. Feel free to use this plan and not even have to give me credit.
I’m back down to Casa Grande on Thursday to watch Seattle and Vancouver train, stay tuned for more pictures and video.
