Vertonghen: Spurs move confirmed

The Belgium international centre-half has been on the verge of a move to north London for several weeks, but the deal was held up over a dispute with the Dutch club over his percentage of the transfer fee.

Vertonghen's representatives met Ajax officials on Friday morning with the aim of resolving the dispute as the 25-year-old, who was in the final year of his contract, returning to pre-season training with Ajax.

Those talks initially failed to find a resolution, but Spurs confirmed on Sunday that the Eredivisie Player of the Year was their player, subject to a medical.
