Holla: Hero for VVV-Venlo

Willem II beat FC Den Bosch 2-1 in the second leg of their play-off to secure promotion.

Having earned a goalless draw from Thursday's first leg at the Stadion De Vliert, Willem II completed the job at home thanks to goals from Marc Hocher and Jens Podevijn.

Hocher opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a fine finish before Den Bosch were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half when Ralf Seuntjens was sent off.

Not long after that dismissal the match was delayed for over 10 minutes due to crowd trouble, with Den Bosch supporters throwing objects onto the pitch.

Play was able to restart though, and immediately Willem doubled their lead through Podevijn.

Den Bosch pulled a goal back right at the end through Bart van Brakel's free-kick but they did not have enough time left to find an equaliser as Willem held on to claim their spot back in the top flight having been relegated in 2011.

Meanwhile Danny Holla was the hero for VVV-Venlo once more as they retained their Eredivisie status following a hard-fought 2-2 draw in the second leg of their play-off against Helmond Sport.

Holla scored the winner in the first leg on Thursday and he scored a brace on Sunday afternoon, including a second-half penalty to help the hosts retain their place in the top flight against a Helmond side who were hoping to earn promotion.

Holla broke the deadlock before strikes from Sebastian Stachnik and Zarko Grabovac gave the visitors a 2-1 lead and levelled the tie after just 14 minutes.

But Holla's spot-kick midway through the second half handed VVV the initiative again and they held on to the relief of the home fans.

Vitesse Arnhem qualified for next season's Europa League at the expense of RKC Waalwijk in the day's other game after wrapping up a comfortable 5-2 aggregate victory in their second-leg play-off.

John van den Brom's men had taken a giant stride coming into the clash after claiming a 3-1 win at the Mandemakers Stadium on Thursday and Wilfried Bony set them on their way in the third minute this afternoon.

Although Geoffrey Castillion's well-taken strike levelled the scores on the day in the 74th minute, RKC never looked capable of launching a famous comeback and Renato Ibarra gave Vitesse a three-goal cushion once again in the 84th minute.
