Jagielka: Won battle with Cahill

The Everton defender will replace John Terry, who withdrew from the squad on Sunday with the ankle injury suffered during the 5-0 win against Moldova on Friday.

Jagielka scored his first goal for his country when partnering Gary Cahill in last month's 2-1 friendly win over Italy in Berne.

Jagielka will be hoping to maintain the 100% success rate he has enjoyed when partnering Lescott at international level. The duo were in tandem when England defeated Switzerland in Basle in a Euro 2012 qualifier in September 2010.

They also teamed up for the 1-0 win over Spain at Wembley last November and the victory over Norway in a Euro 2012 warm-up at the same venue.

The pair also played together for two years at Everton from 2007 to 2009.

It was the only change from the side which triumphed in Chisinau thanks to goals from Frank Lampard (two), Jermain Defoe, James Milner and Leighton Baines.

England team v Ukraine (kick-off 8pm BST): Hart, Johnson, Baines, Lescott, Jagielka, Milner, Gerrard, Lampard, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cleverley, Defoe.
