Marin: Ready for Chelsea challenge

The highly-rated 23-year-old made the move to Stamford Bridge from Werder Bremen at the start of the transfer window and is currently in Seattle on the first leg of the club's pre-season tour.

He has been regarded as a special talent for some time but recognises that he has yet to quite fulfil his talent and believes he is now at the best place to take his game to the next level.

"I hope I didn't reach it (a peak) yet because I am still young and I hope I will improve and show my best at Chelsea," he told Sky Sports News.

"If you play and train every day with players of such quality, then if you want to improve you surely can."

Roberto Di Matteo has a wealth of options in the attacking midfield and wide areas and Marin accepts that it will be difficult to hold down a regular role, but he is confident in his own ability.

"I have to show my qualities and play as well as I can, and if I do this then I am not afraid and I am sure I will play," he said. "Nobody has assurances that they will play, but if I do well then of course I will play."

The likes of Lukas Podolski and Shinji Kagawa have also secured moves from the Bundesliga to the Premier League this summer and Marin is not surprised by the growing trend.

He added: "German football over the last few years has improved and there a lot of good young players in the Bundesliga, so if they perform well other clubs see this."
