Green: Working on issues

The newco club were voted into the Scottish Third Division on Friday after having their initial application to enter the SPL rejected and their place in the top flight has now been filled by Dundee.

But Green remains adamant there are still issues to be resolved before the newco club are issued with their license to play in the Scottish Football League.

"I don't think there's a time limit on it (the licence) but we definitely need it as soon as possible, but there's still a number of issues outstanding between Rangers and the SFA and we're working on them now," said Green.

"We wish Dundee every success and we are now looking forward to reaching an agreement with the SFA so that we can get on and start playing in the Third Division."

Throughout the ongoing saga as to which division Rangers should enter - with the SPL, First Division and Third Division all possibilities at the start - SFA chief executive Stewart Regan has come under criticism for how he has handled the matter.

And with fresh calls made for Regan to resign over the handling of the club's demotion, after a leaked e-mail containing Regan's plans to place Rangers into the First Division came to light, Green believes he may step down.

"Well I think for everyone who has been involved with this story it has been difficult," he said.

"Leaked emails are never helpful and I'm sure Stewart will do the right thing."

Green is fighting battles elsewhere and is still hoping to receive transfer fees for players who have departed Ibrox, having refused to have their contracts moved over to the newco.

International clearance for the transfers of Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty, Jamie Ness has been put on hold.
