Borini: Leaving Roma

The 21-year-old is on the verge of completing his transfer to the Premier League side after both clubs reportedly reached an agreement to transfer the player to Anfield in a deal worth around £7.8million.

"I liked Borini," Zeman said in Friday's press conference. "For me he is a good player and we hope to be able to replace him."

Roma only bought Borini outright last month after paying Serie A side Parma £3.95million for the remaining 50% of the player's rights.

The former Chelsea striker, who was a member of Italy's Euro 2012 squad, scored nine goals in 24 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi last season.

Genoa forward Mattia Destro is the man most likely to replace Borini.

The 21-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan, played on loan at Siena last season and scored 13 goals in 30 appearances.

He is under contract with the Genoa until June 2015.

"Destro is a striker that I like," Zeman said. "He is a young talent."
