The 29-year-old rejoined rejoined the club with whom he spent his formative years on Thursday, penning a two-year deal at Loftus Road to end his successful spell with Blackpool.
Campbell snubbed interest interest from other clubs in the Premier League to become manager Neil Warnock's fourth summer signing and admitted this morning it is great to return to west London.
"I can't wait," he told talkSPORT. "Obviously I left a great club in Blackpool but I have signed for another great club in QPR.
"It is a club that I supported as a boy and I am looking forward to it.
"Every game in this league is going to be hard as a I knew last season but the gaffer has a good quad here and hopefully we can all stick together and push in the same direction.
"Everyone in this league can be beaten but obviously you can beaten by every team in this league so it is going to be tough but it is a challenge we're looking forward to.
"There were a few clubs in for me but QPR are my home club and the club I supported as a boy.
"It is the area I know very as that is where my family is from and stuff.
"When I found out they were interested it was great to come home."
He added: "I wanted to play in the Premiership and it's funny how a club like QPR comes up because it's the team I went to watch as a kid and my mum always said that one day you'll end up back there.
"Funnily enough it's happened and I'm delighted."
QPR had a bid for Campbell accepted almost a week ago, reportedly triggering a release clause in his Blackpool contract, which had a year left to run with the option of a further 12 months.
The striker moved to the Seasiders following their promotion last summer and netted 13 goals in 31 appearances in the top flight.
Campbell admitted the goal tally saw him fall just short of his target for the campaign and has now set himself the ultimate goal to represent his country.
"Every season I set myself a target," he said. "I set myself a target last year and nearly got to it and obviously I've set myself a target this year.
"If I can better what I did last year, I will be over the moon.
"I've got ambitions with my national team, which hopefully one day I can achieve, and that was a big part of me coming back into the Premier League."
