Oxlade-Chamberlain (l): Reportedly named by Hodgson

Liverpool's Stewart Downing had widely been expected to take the role on the left of midfield in Donetsk, but instead Roy Hodgson is understood to have gone with the Arsenal man.

It will be Oxlade-Chamberlain's second start for his country, but his first-ever appearance in a competitive match.

The other issues apparently resolved see Manchester City's James Milner on the right of midfield ahead of Theo Walcott, and up-front Danny Welbeck is preferred to Andy Carroll, with Ashley Young playing a supporting role.

The back four is as expected with Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Joleon Lescott lining up.

The central midfield is Scott Parker alongside captain Steven Gerrard.

England probable line-up v France: Hart; Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole; Milner, Parker, Gerrard, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Young; Welbeck.
