Messi Set to Leave Barcelona

Messi_head_downLionel Messi is planning to leave Barcelona next summer according to reports in Punto Pelota.  Punto Pelota journalist Francois Gallardo goes so far as to claim Messi has a verbal agreement with another team.

“For a month the relationship between Messi’s advisors and the club is null. The player feels betrayed and has decided to leave at the end of the season.  In fact, he has a verbal agreement with another team and from February or March will begin planning his transfer.”

The claims are supported by rumors earlier this summer that adidas was working with Messi and willing to pay part of the transfer fee so that an adidas sponsored team – Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Chelsea – could sign the player.  Bayern seems unlikely with Pep Guardiola in charge on the Bundesliga side.  Messi had a falling out with the former Barca man before he left.

The situation was not helped with the signing of Brazilian Neymar who is making $1.3 million more than the Argentine.  Barcelona originally agreed to a pay raise for Messi but backed out.

“The decision is taken. Leo Messi will leave Barca at the end of the season,” Gallardo went on to say. “He will go to a country very close to ours.”

If Messi leaves Barcelona where do you want to see him play?  Would he ever make the move to Real Madrid?
