Everton manager David Moyes says he will be looking to buy a striker in the January transfer window.
The Toffees have played their last few matches without a proper striker due to injuries to Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Louis Saha, James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe.
Moyes said: "The boys who have played up front have been a handful every time and I'm very pleased with how Tim has done it.
"I've been saying for a year or two now that Tim Cahill could be a centre forward if required. He's shown in the last couple of weeks that he is capable and in many ways he is as comfortable up there as he is in the centre of the park.
"What has surprised me is that we've gone into these games with no forwards, nothing on the bench, and we're on our best run just now. They've worked so hard as a group so it's pleasing.
"But I've said for a while we would like to bring in at least one more striker if possible, subject to it being a loan signing because we don't have the finances in this window to buy.
"We're not intending to sell anybody because there's nobody I want to sell and we're not intending to buy, but we'll try to get a loan player or two in."
