Everton manager David Moyes has signed defensive midfielder Segundo Castillo from Serbian club Red Star Belgrade.
The signing of the Ecuador international is subject to his work permit application going through the Home Office. The application has already been lodged.
The 26-year-old will join the Toffees on Friday 29 August when he will also undergo a medical.
Castillo joined Red Star in 2006 from Ecuadorian club El Nacional, and he started his career at El Deportivo ESPOLI.
He previously had a trial run at Blackburn Rovers but they could not agree on the transfer terms with Red Star.
In the 2006 World Cup Castillo represented Ecuador, and he was part of the team who narrowly lost against England in the tournament. He has received 33 caps playing for his country.
