Freddy Adu has jumped around during his 10 year professional career. After signing with MLS as a 14-year-old, Adu has played with 9 clubs on 6 continents and is currently training with English club Blackpool. He took a moment to speak with the official Blackpool website.
The 24-year-old is hopeful of reviving his playing career saying it would be a ‘dream’ to play in England and that he hopes that he will one day play in a World Cup.
He was especially grateful to his cleat sponsor Nike who has stood behind him in good times and bad. He pointed out how Nike and their top players like Michael Jordan was an inspiration while growing up and that he always wanted to be like that and when he was offered a contract it was too good to turn down.
“When Nike came in and gives you a multimillion-dollar contract,” he says. “Yeah, what are you going to say? I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m in.’ That was very nice.”
Adu and a hair-on-his-head Michael Bradley were part of a Nike viral video trying to hit the crossbar from midfield with the recently signed Toronto FC midfielder knocking it on the first attempt.
